Having problems with your Air Conditioners ?

I have a Carrier Weathermaker Infinity furnace model 58MVP100-F-1-20 with 3 zones and Carrier Comfort Zone II programable thermostat. I recently installed ageothermal heat pump system which includes a hot water coil in the furnace plennum. The heat pump is sized to meet loads except for the coldest days of winter - (below 0 F) - when the gas furnace is expected to kick in. My problem appears to be the Weathermaker's characteristics don't accommodate the low heat /slow response provided by

You can disconnect the wire attached to w2 on the new stat and that way the stat will be unable to turn on the furnace when you push it more than two degrees above the room temp. if you leave the wire connected to w2 then anytime the stats desired temp is set more than two degrees warmer than the house, the heat pump and the furnace are designed to come on together till the temp approaches two degrees of set point then the furnace shuts down and the pump maintains. this way the pump will do its thing till it gets cold. (below 40 degrees). when that happens you can go to the stat and switch to emergency heat. this will power up only the furnace as soon as there is a first stage call for heat. it will not wait to see what the pump is doing and go to heating with furnace right away. you simply switch back to normal heat setting when temps go back above 40 degrees. the furnace is actually wired to two terminals on the stat. w2 is backup heat terminal you disconnect and the x terminal or aux terminal is energized only when you are switched into emergency heat.

We have a Carrier Heat pump. Today the heat pump and (gas) furnace turned off completely and the thermostat is blank. We've checked the fuses and they seem to be fine and everything else is working well. It's forecast to be in the high 30's over the next few days so having the heat pump/AC working is a necessity. The installer can't get here for 2 more days ( he doesn't work weekends). I don't have any idea what to do. Help - help!

Dear FixYa Experts, I am a new home owner. I have a Kenmore Air Conditioner (heat pump?, see more details below) with Lincoln Gas Furnace. According to the former owner, the heating system will start heat pump first when the temperature is above -15C and then turn on the gas furnace when the temperature drops below -15C. Recently, when I turn on the heating system, only the gas furnace was always running but not the Kenmore air conditioner. And our average temperature was always above +5C for

I am trouble shooting a Bryant Hi-bred system that uses an air cooled heat pump with high efficiency gas furnace for backup and low ambient operation. How does the system decide whether to use the air cooled heat pump or the gas fired high efficiency furnace. It appears to be outdoor air temperature related, but I can't find the setpoint for it. The main zone Bryant thermostat appears to control the system, but it doesn't always bring the backup heat if the heat pump doesn't function.

Hello, I have a Heater/Furnace problem. I have a Carrier 58RAV095-16 Natural Gas Furnace. My furnace keeps restarting it's heating process. Upon turning the heater on, a small fan will engage and run for about 60 seconds, then the fan turns off and the gas engages and the igniter clicks and you hear the gas combust and the flames spew out onto the heating rods(?) and after a minute or so, the big fan will turn on and begin circulating air throughout the house. Sounds all good so far? Well

I have a lennox 2 stage gas furnace and a lennox XP15 heat pump controlled through the Lennox 7000 touchscreen thermostat. Can this be done at the thermostat or it requried to disable at the furnace? Any input would be helpful. Unable to locate 'installer manual' for thermostat.

Carrier thermostat Hello, My Carrier electronic thermostat is connected to a heat pump.  It was set to the COOL position during a summer thunderstorm when the AC suddenly began running no matter what the SET temperature was.  It works normally when I change it to the AUTO position.  The HEAT and EHEAT positions work normally. I tried cutting power to the unit for 2 days, after which it worked normally even on COOL, but after a short power failure it resumed the problem of running the AC continuo

My Carrier brand gas furnace quits working, so I move the thermostat to 50 degrees, it clicks, then clicks at 70 degrees and starts working again, sometimes for one cycle or sometimes for a day or two. Then it quits again. I replaced the thermostat and it still does this, no change. It appears something in the furnace itself is causing the problem. Also, if I switch the power switch off and on, then the furnace starts working again temporarily.

Please note that the aux gas heat cannot come on if the heat pump is running or it may hurt the heat pump due to the gas heat units location.
