I have a Ruud 90% furnace (18 yrs.old) Several days ago, I had a complete ice-over of the evaporator coil. Filters are clean, and airflow unrestricted. After defrosting coil (48 hrs.) while testing, I note that the blower only runs for 30-45 sec. before shutting down. When I set the stat to "fan on", it does the same thing. It seems to me that the blower never gets up enough speed (might be my imagination). I'm assuming that the problem is not in my stat or wiring. Does this sound more like a pr

The motor shutting off after 30-45 seconds means it is probably getting hot and shutting off on thermo overload safety in motor. Two things can cause this: #1 is the motor is defective. #2 the run capacitor has gone bad. If you want to try and save ... Ruud UBHC Air Conditioner

I have a Carrier Model# FA4BNF048, It just started making rattling noise and a thump sound like a car intake, the system is still cooling fine, its just the noise that is bothering us. I managed to get the cover off to listen carefully to the noise, that seems to be coming from the blower motor, I took it of with a few just bolts and wire diconnects, to ensure there were no loose parts in there, which I did not see or felt any. The system seems to be cooling still, but the noise after the au

Hi\015\012\015\012If your air conditioner is making a rattling noise, your fan is probably loose. Open it up and tighten the screw that is located in the center of the fan. You can also try a piece of plywood or Plexiglas that sits betwee ... Air Conditioners

BLOWER NOISE Carrier Weathermaker 8000 works fine but when shutting down the blower makes a slight sound. Sounds like tapping the bottom of an empty plastic liter pop bottle. Can the blower be lubricated or oiled? Thanks

My Goodman GMP100-4 blower fan runs slower than the second unit. The blower did not start when I turned the A/C or furnace on. However, if gave it a push (spin) from the side, it started turning, but at a slower speed. hardly any air blows from vent. Will capacitor replacement solve the problem? Is slow speed also due to capacitor?

My heater is not working. When the thermostat is placed in HEAT mode, it sounds like the blower is kicking on - but then it shuts down a minute later. I looked in the unit in the attic, and I can see that what appears to be a small blower kicks on (a black circular wheel starts spinning) but then I do not ever get a spark - it just all shuts down. Is there something I can check myself (pressure switch, fuse, etc) with a simple multi-meter before having to get a service man?

Yes. First go into the attic and look thru the the inspection hole in your furnace. It is a small hole with a glass cover you can look thru. Therer will be blinking light inside. The numrer of blinks tell you that what the problem is. Example three b ... Weather King 12AJA4801AH Air Conditioner

It suppose to slows down and keep blowing at a slower speed so as to save money by having air blow across coils. It does not slow down now and compressor stays on for long time. Have a Payne pg8uaa furnace. Furnace only works when I run a jumper between R and W. Replace wiring to furnace. I suspect that the outside blower motor is the problem. When furnace is running the blower motor has a humming sound but does not blow air. At this point, I would like to know how you would diagnose a Tjernlund HSUL-J blower motor. Should the motor itself be replaced or should the fan prover be replaced?

Once you turn on aircon with fan with high speed, the air blown doesn't get cold even after a while. The fan makes some wierd high pitch sound as if like metal against each other. The fan stops once in a while and makes that same sound once it start turning again. This goes cyclic through out the time it is turned on but not cooling the air from the aircon.

I have a Carrier 8000 weathermaker. Recently the blower motor began to run progressively slower and finally just bogged down. I replaced the motor, but the replacement motor has three speeds (red, blue and black wires) whereas the old motor had four (red, blue, black and yellow). Initially I hooked the new motor wires up to the circuit board the same way the old ones were, leaving an open spot where the old yellow wire was. New motor works, but at lower speeds, pushing less cool air. We liv

The Coleman Mach thermostat in my 5th wheel blows its 2 A fuse a couple of times today and am trying to figure out what is causing this. Please help.
