I have a kenmore central air unit model KAC024AK5. Fan started making noise few days ago. I'm still getting cold air. Opened the top grill and the fan is not loose. Could it be the motor and more specifically the bearing? If this is the case, should i get the motor repaired or get a new one from Kenmore Parts Canada? Your advise is greatly appreciated. gene

Sorry for the inconvenience you have had. The compressor and coils etc are 5 year warranty. This still leaves labor, but I know most shops pick up the labor for one year. I know it is still a headache, but hopefully you have some coverage from you ... Air Conditioners

I bought a home built in 1935 with a Perfection Brand gas forced air heater, any info or a website on this old brand of heater would be greately appreciated. I was told it is over 25 years old, I just want to read about this heater and get to know how it works, until I get money to purchase a new one. Thanks in advance.

Any and i mean any ac and heat company you call in the yellow pages can and will be happy to repair yor heater. parts are all generic. problem is the heat exchanger needs to be tested every year with a co detector so no one gets killed. thats pretty ... Air Conditioners

Help! I have a Kelvinator 2 KSR25F split system a/c that is not working. Every time I turned it on it trips the safety switch. I had a guy come out and look at it and he told me that the compressor is gone and that I need a new a/c as it would not be worth fixing. The unit is at least 8 years old and I have never had a problem with it apart from the capacitor going last year. My question is this, is it worth/cheaper getting the compressor fixed or buying a new one (money's too tight to mention

The compressor is the last resort. there could be another problem causing the system to trip circuit. sounds like a wire grounding inside the condensing unit control panel located at the contacts. check there first and inspect the other wires inside ... Electrolux Air Conditioners

Where can I get a schematic for Coleman AC Unit & Thermostat #7333-887 in my travel trailer? Really, really need it right now . . . installing new Hunter programmable thermostat and wires don't match

Generally the blue wire is never used in a 4 wire system. There also is no guarantee that the other wires are correct. Making note before you swapped wires sure would have helped. A little late now. This the normal wiring designation.whit ... Coleman Air Conditioners

I have to replace the start/run capacitor (97F9971 - Duel Capacitor/ 50, 7.5 370 VAC). I have marked the terminals before removing and purchased the new capacitor. The new capacitor has minor difference with the old one. The hermatic has 3 terminals, The Fan has two terminals The Compressor (C) has 4 terminals. Now in the old unit, two wires were connected to two opposite terminals on C, one in Herm and one in Fan. My question is: How will I know which terminal to connect in the new one

All the terminals are connected together so it won't matter which terminal you use, just as long as you have the Herm, Com, and Fan wires correct. Hope this helps! ... Air Conditioners

I have a York Diamond 90 Unit and my A/C quit blowing cold the other day. No Blower running, No Condensor or Compressor running. I replaced the capacitor for the blower motor and it started but no condensor. I checked the capacitor for the condensor visually and it was bulged out. I bought a new one (not the exact brand but I had a AC parts house match it up with the old one.) The new one has labels on the legs the old one did not. I have 3 wire leads off the condensor 2- Brn and 1-Red (New Capa

It sounds like you may have install it backwards. break the power and try again, if the compressor is trying to start thats a good sign. at least its not dead. Try re-installing the capicator and that might fix it, it wont hurt anything to try. ... Air Conditioners

PAID AN A/C COMPANY TO COME OUT AND FIX MY A/C. THE OUTSIDE COMPRESSOR WASN'T COMING ON. AFTER AN HOUR HE DECIDED IT WAS THE ''DEFROST BOARD'', AND SAID HE DIDN'T HAVE ONE ON HIS TRUCK TO REPAIR IT AT THE TIME.IF I GET THE NEW PART, IT DOSEN'T SEEM THAT HARD TO REPLACE, BUT I KNOW HOW THAT CAN GO SOMETIME. THE TOTAL REPAIR BILL WOULD BE $260. IS IT REALLY HARD TO REPLACE THE PART MYSELF? I DO REMODELING WORK, BUT NOT REAL FAMILIAR WITH A/C. IF SOMEONE COULD TELL ME THE BASIC STEPS PLEASE.

The defrost board isn't hard to replace. It just about matching up wire for wire on the unit. BUT and a big but.......if you do something wrong and burn the board up, then you have to buy another. At least this way, you know that he will put the p ... Air Conditioners

Carrier 38CK036330 Hi,  I totally know nothing about air conditioning. It's getting so hot in LA and we really need help since our house has a 18-month old child. We have a Carrier 38CK036330 central unit, and it's not cooling the house as we'd like it to. It's already about 13 years old and we are looking for a new one to replace it. The question is we cannot find this model anymore, or do we have to replace it with the same model?? What model or brand would you suggest for a 1350 square feet h

The model numbers change. You have a 3 ton system. The make and model that you replace it with is not nearly as important as a quality install.Do your homework on picking a contractor that you can trust.Have them do a load calculation to make sure a 3t ... Carrier 38CKC060 Air Conditioner

I have an old GE Weathertron which still works (except I need a new fan). The unit is about 30 years old, but some goob from Dave's H & AC screwed it up and they had to send a new guy (who apparently had some experience) and he basically spent all day replacing most of the internals for free. The problem is the 18" fan has a bent blade. I can get a new one, but I just can't get the old one off. I removed two hex screws (set screws) from the hub on top, but it still wont budge. Is the hub on top

Use sandpaper to sand the motor shaft. Then,Lots of WD40 on the shaft and hub. Wait for it to penetrate. Then hold the shaft with pliers between the hub and the motor and twist the fan blade right and lft to loosen it.Try and pu ... GE Air Conditioners

I am replacing my old a/c fan motor with a new one. The old motor is an A.O Smith B13400-251 and has black, brown, and a purple wire and was connected to a dual capacitor. The new motor is an A.O Smith ORM5458 and has a white wire on one side and on the other is a black, brown, and a brown/white wire. The dealer sold us a single capacitor and i'm having a hard time figuring the wiring. Can anyone offer some instructions?

For one, thank you for posting all the info, it really helps! On your new motor, the white has became your purple, black is black, and your brown/brown and white wires go to each side of the new capacitor, there should only be 2 terminals. You can le ... Air Conditioners

Trying to connect a new dual capacitor for an a/c unit. Three wires came off the old one, blue to the motor, red to the contactor and a brown wire. The new capacitor has two black and 1 white connectors, whick one goes where.

The cap should be marked to with goes where. White is more than likely common which will go to the contactor. The other two one to the motor and one to the fan. May be marked C-C-F Compressor, Common,Fan ... Amana Air Conditioners

I Have a outside A/C unit I have replaced the fan and I need to know which Capacitor leads go to the Fan, the compressor and the contactor. the capacitor is a 35/5 with one lead with 4 male blade connectors-one with two and one with only one lead. There are also two brown(one with a stripe)wires from the new motor instead of the one on the original motor.

I recently purchased a used ac for my rv. it has two and one had gone out. the air coming out of the new one only gets down to 60 degrees while the air out of my old one is 50 degrees. they are both the same brand. does this mean the new one has something wrong with it or is it normal for some ac's to blow colder air i dont know is is should take it back or if it is working like it is suppose to help

No it means you 50 degree one is working better than perfect. Clean the one that is only getting down to 60 degrees but remember if a unit is dropping the air temp by 20 degrees its working fine. You ck this by cking the air at the intake where the f ... Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

I have 2 Superser heaters. The newer one ignites at the 2nd or 3rd push of the plunger. However, the older one is a real pain. Some years ago after a summer of inactivity, it failed to ignite so I took it to a repairman who after a lengthy delay and charging me enough to buy a new one, had it just about working. He said that there was a problem with small spiders getting into the system and blocking it. This seems pretty implausible to me. Subsequently when it was difficult to get going, I f

The first thing I would do is make sure that ignitor is in the proper placement. Compare it to your other one. You can carefully clean ignitor and pilot assembly. Check to see that you have a good strong spark when you push plunger. If not you probab ... Air Conditioners

The snaps for the grill cover of my Bionaire Stand fan broke in few pieces and now i can't get the cover to stay. I called Bionaire and the model # BSF1017RC is now discontinued. She advised me that I should just get a new one. I would like to get the snap rather than buying a brand new fan since it's just the snap the broke and the fan is perfectly working fine.

I have no ideal what the snaps look like, but I do know that at a home improvement center sell different type of snaps and they may have something that may work. Might not be the same type. hope this helps Tim ... Air Conditioners

27 year old Lennox gas furnace no heat was coming out of the vents, so I went to the basement and saw 1. One burner was clogged all along the surface and instead of the flames going up the flue, they were going to the outside of the flue where the wires are. 2. I was told by an HVAC that the flue is stopped up with soot and to just go ahead and get a new furnace. Should we get a new furnace or get this cleaned out? Thanks

You need to replace it with a matching 3 pole capacitor. Look at the rating on your old capacitor, on a 3 pole it should read (ie): 5/35 mfd. This is a split type capacitor and usually controls 2 motors. There are a wide varety of capacitors. Also, o ... Goodman CKL24AR24 Air Conditioner

I have a Trane XE1200 condensor for which I bought a replacement fan motor, same specs as the original G.E. motor. The original G.E. motor was wired to a dual capacitor, which is also wired to the compressor. The original G.E. motor had 4 wires, one of which was not hooked up. The replacement motor is an A.O.
