Remote control unit does not communicate with aircon. Remote registers change in temp, airswing, etc, but no response by aircon. Aircon can be turned on/off by small button under the front panel (that covers the filter and wiring diagram). I have a remote comfort control with 3308448.004 relay board. Press Heat button to turn unit on and it does NOT turn on. Have 115VAC to the relay board and have 12VDC to remote control reciever. Sounds like the remote control reciever is bad?? Can I switch my system to the "wired" control system without changing the relay board? I assume it is possible that the relay board is also bad. Is this a common fault with these units?

Anyone know what the combination is?

This is for a Friedrich QStar SQ06J10 AC unit - When switch is normally shifted to the 'cool' position ('on' mode), it seems to not complete the circuit. Jiggling or pressing hard on the switch will make the unit run, but one has to hold the switch. Can a DIY-approach fix the connection, so the unit will run as expected? or does the switch panel need to be replaced? Relatedly, might it be 'better' to simply swap out this unit for a newer, possibly more-efficient unit?
