How to take apart case and back flush heat exchange fins

\015 I am trying to clean out the fan unit on my central air conditioner. I have removed all the sheet metal screws. The fan head is attached to the top cover of the heat exchange unit, I want to flush out the debri that is pulled into the fins of the heat exchanger. Is there an exploded view of the base unit - which side walls can be removed ? How do I remove the top with the fan head, so I can take the hose and back flush the debris ?\015\012\015\012Any help would be most appreciated. The system is a WeatherKing Scroll compressor - Select 12 unit.\015\012\015\012George\015

Answers :

You do not have to remove the coils. Just carefully lift the top with the motor and set it aside (power off). Spray the outside with a foaming cleaner (Dow bathroom) and flush from inside out.

You didn't mention how old your oil furnace is. But, if it's got some age on it and it's hasn't been serviced annually, the heat exchanger may very well be cracked. But, before you decide to tear it apart and make it a DIY project, you may well want ... Air Conditioners

Is it ok to replace outside unit of central air and heat and not the inside air handler ? The upstairs A/C( over 10 yrs old) is not keeping up with South Texas heat. The temp upstairs climbs to 84-86 degrees by the afternoon and takes 4 or more hours after dark to cool back down. I have cleaned the entire unit outside- no help. I have replaced the downstairs unit 2 yrs. ago and it works fine. I don't want to replace the upstairs air handler if I don't have to---much more cost.

I have a Lennox heating and air system. It's 5 years old. The tape that hold those long tube things together has failed and the tubes are disconnected from the vents that blow air into the house. I have used duct tape as a temporary fix. I'm told that when winter comes that my duct tape will come apart. Where can I buy the right tape to put everything back together? I have tried to get contractors to do the work, but so far they are all booked up for weeks. My electric bill is sky high probably

Sounds like a lousy job. Best tape is alluminum. You can pick it up at Home Depot or Lowes. If the tubes are flex duct be sure to pull back the outer insulation and tape just the inner lining ... Air Conditioners

I am renting an apartment that has 3 Singer Conditioners installed in the exterior walls of the unit. They appear to be at least 30 years old (and may be 40+ years old). The main unit (for heating and cooling all but the 2 bedrooms) broke down. The landlord is out-of-state, so we took care of getting it repaired. It needed a new motor. After the unit was installed with the new motor (and a cleaning), it emitted a foul, unbearable odor. I made the repair company come back and rinse the unit

Baxi solo pfl60 problem. the boiler has for some time been doing this - the fan starts normally when demand is present, then the pilot ignites, then it all shuts down. this happens repeatedly about 6 times before the burner lights successfully. virtually all internal components apart from the burner and heat exchanger were changed at the beginning of the year by british gas, and the problem ceased for about 6 months but has now started again. when it is completely cold, the boiler will operate n

After a cooling cycle, when the thermostat call for more cooling, it take up to 5 minutes after the air handler starts for the compressor motor to restart. The top fan operates on the outside unit, but since the house is not circulating cold air, only the room tep air the house heats up about 3 degrees before the compressor comes back on and cool air begins to come from the ducts. Yes. I know there is a safety feature to protect the compressor, but can the cycle be shortened?

No, this cycle cannot be shortened due to the simple fact that this feature is in place to protect your system. Even if it could be, I wouldn't recommend it.Mat ... Coleman Air Conditioners
